Two trappers push their loaded canoe into the water on a bright morning as the sun streams through the trees.  

I am indebted to the re-enactors at American Frontier Productions - thanks for some long, wet poses while I composed just the right photo shot.  I did the photo reference work in Kansas and then added the background based on my own imagination and experience of tramping around woods and lakes and  mountains as a youth.

This is a large watercolor painting - 36 inches high by 24 inches wide (unframed).  The 200-pound Arches cold-press watercolor paper is mounted archivally on a quarter-inch thick Alumalite panel and then varnished.  It can therefore be framed like an oil painting without glass.
